Franklin Trails Community Action Forum – Mon 19 April

This forum is on Monday 19 April Monday starting at 10am in Pukekohe (contact Dot Dalziell for more info and venue details) Note this is the first week of school holidays.

You are warmly invited to the Franklin Trails Community Action forum. The purpose of this forum is to organise community action for better tracks and trails in Franklin. We’ve got some great community trails already here, such as the Pukekohe “Five Summits” trail, the MTB and children’s loop tracks behind Pukekohe High School, the MTB trail at the back of Pukekohe Hill, and further development of the Waiuku Trails network.

Now we need to increase the pace to ensure that the next generations in Franklin have safe, fun, connected tracks and trails to get about, get active and get to know the local environment with its fascinating stories and interesting people. We want more exciting community trails and we want them fast!  We’re planning all of this:

  • Extensions to Pukekohe “Five Summits” trail 5 – 10km
  • Trail circuits on all the Pukekohe Reserves 5 – 10km
  • Belmont Rise summit circuit 1.3 – 1.5km
  • Taihiki estuary 5 – 24 km
  • Patumahoe circuit 1.1km
  • Awaroa historic trail restoration and circuits 20 – 40km

Growing our network of trails needs local people willing to contribute in a variety of ways, so this meeting seeks to bring together those people. If you’re a walker, tramper, keen trail rider or just a local ambler, come along, because we need your voice!

The event is finished.
