Intro to Cultural Monitoring Webinar (hosted by Te Ara Hikoi)

Wednesday 15th February, 7-8pm, via Zoom (book your ticket below to receive the webinar link)

Join Edith Tuhimata, Kaitiaki Taiao – Ngati Tamaoho and Pāpaka Brown, Kaitiaki – Ngati Te Ata for an introduction to Cultural Monitoring practices so we can all be mindful when using, developing and protecting the land.

While archaeological monitoring looks at the remnants left on the landscape, with cultural monitoring, Kaitiaki look at the cultural landscape – not just physical but also the cultural why, the historical who, the modern day continued connection to the land, and the physical ability by the kaitiaki to protect and preserve in conjunction with the archaeologists any intact  archaeology/cultural heritage.

Cultural Monitoring enables Iwi to maintain a relationship with the land, protect the cultural heritage and ensure that the best environmental outcomes are gained and maintained, especially in areas within their rohe/area where development and change is occurring.

This is an online event, including a Q&A session. Book your spot to receive the zoom link and event reminders.

Bought to you by Te Ara Hikoi and sponsored by Auckland Council.

The event is finished.
