Whitford Bait and Trap day
We are excited to announce that we have a new Predator Free Whitford group up and running as part of Predator Free Franklin. Everyone is welcome to be part of this movement! We are also looking for a few extra volunteers to help form a committee for Predator Free Whitford. This mahi is being done alongside the Whitford Residents and Ratepayers Association contractor model to further strengthen predator control efforts in the area.
We prefer not to impose any boundaries on the area, as we’re open to anywhere that identifies as part of Whitford! Even if a property is outside the official Whitford boundary, we wouldn’t turn anyone away if they wanted to get involved in trapping and we’re the closest group. We hope to fill in the gaps between existing border groups Predator Free Maraetai & Beachlands, and Friends of Te Wairoa.
Our first event is a Bait and Trap day on Saturday 27 May at the Whitford Community Hall. Drop in between 9 am – 12 noon. This is for Whitford locals where pest experts will be available to advise on the best control methods and have free traps and bait available (although we will be accepting donations towards the cost of the pest control materials, to enable us to assist even more people).
We look forward to seeing you there, and feel free to share this message with your neighbours!
Please also join our Predator Free Whitford Facebook group page to stay up to date.
