Working with your waterways workshop – 25 July 2025

Join us for Working with Your Waterways – a free workshop and field trip designed to help rural landowners understand how water shapes the landscape and what can be done to protect their land, streams, and rivers.
This interactive session will explore:
- How water moves through catchments and why erosion happens
- Practical steps to improve flood resilience on your property
- A hands-on Rapid Geomorphic Assessment of a local stream
- Tools to assess your own land and waterways
When: Friday, 25 July, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Where: Papakura Old Central School Hall (Main Hall), 57 Wood Street, Papakura, Auckland 2120
Morning tea and lunch provided
This workshop is ideal for landowners and rural residents who want to take action to protect their land and waterways. It is especially relevant for the Papakura community and neighbouring areas.

Applications are open from 16 June to 27 July 2025.
Funding for 2025/26 is available for rural landowners and catchment groups working on private properties larger than 5 hectares.
Priority catchment areas include:
- Papakura Stream
- Matakana River
- Āwhitu Catchment
- Ōrere River
- Aotea / Great Barrier Island
