About Te Ara Hīkoi

Te Ara Hīkoi is a community-led, culturally grounded journey of restoration across our rohe. We bring people, knowledge, and tools together to regenerate thriving native ecosystems—from coastlines and farms to bush and backyards.

Guided by partnership with mana whenua and the values of kaitiakitanga and kotahitanga, we support communities to take collective action for biodiversity through predator control, pest plant management, ecological monitoring, and habitat restoration.

Our work is about more than restoring nature. By empowering people to care for the places they love, we help strengthen community connections, foster a sense of purpose and belonging, and create healthier environments for future generations.

Together, we’re building thriving ecosystems and connected communities across Franklin and beyond.
