Patumahoe – Ruru and bat evening survey, 26 October
We’re hearing about increases in ruru (morepork) numbers in areas where our groups are carrying out good rat and possum control. We would like to build up evidence to support this. So come and join us for an evening walk to spot for bats, listen for ruru and gather baseline data on ruru abundance.
Meet up place: Clive Howe Rd sports car park by the school. We will complete a circuit of the Clive Howe area, Te Ara Owhangamaire and Henry’s Bush.
Equipment: It will be a reasonable walk over rough ground, so bring suitable footwear. Bring a small torch or headlight. We will have a couple of hand-held bat locators that people can use.
Event info: If it’s raining in the evening, phone Andrew Sinclair on 021 268 1904 to check if it’s postponed. This walk is one of four we’ll be running around Franklin in different places, and you’re welcome to come along to all four.
